MY LAW OFFICE

Just ran across these photos of my law office in Tampa, Florida.  It was located in a very modern, high-rise office building in downtown Tampa.  I decorated the office myself with my favorite art and furniture collected from years of visiting Santa Fe, New Mexico..I spent a lot of time in the office so I wanted it to be as comfortable as our little house on Anna Maria Island in the Gulf of Mexico. As law offices go, especially in an office building filled with law firms, my office stood out from the rest..not so much an intention of mine but just the way I lived and practiced law...

waiting area..the poster where the fireplace should be is one of my favorites..in criminal practice fees are usually quoted as a flat fee and not charged by the hour..the poster says "GUNFIGHTERS DON'T CHARGE BY THE BULLET"

KALEPPI AND THE CENTIPEDE

My Tongan friend, Kaleppi, is just finishing the volcanic rock posts in front of the new garage/workshop/guesthouse.  A nice sized centipede crawled out of Kaleppi's rock pile..Kaleppi beat the bugga to the bite and bit his head to stun him...Kaleppi said that the centipede wouldn't bite him back..and he was right...here he is with the 'pede alive and crawling...but afraid to bite Kaleppi...

HALE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Finally got started on the tongue and groove cedar walls in the workshop/guesthouse and drywall in the garage.  I think the walls will be closed up by next week and the flooring will be beginning to be installed.  The light is definitely at the end of the tunnel more so than ever..I hope..

LANDRINO R.I.P.

Sad day yesterday..my friend Landrino Aguinaldo was killed on the beach house property that I managed until a couple of years ago..I hired Landrino and his brothers to work on the property 6 years ago or so, and became fast friends with all of them.  As hardworking a crew as I have ever seen..honest..loyal..and always ready to help anyone that needed it.  Landrino was mowing yesterday and the mower slid down the stream bank and flipped over on him pinning him in the mud and shallow water face down..he couldn't get the mower off of him and drowned..
Landrino always had a smile on his face, especially when telling me about his family..proud of all of them...and his brothers and sisters..and wife...I saw him every day for years while I was on the property but not as much for the last couple of years and I have missed him.  I talked to him last week and we were going to try to meet up on sunday, his only day to "rest da body" as he used to say..I miss you and love you brother...
